Rush Lake and Rush Peak
Rush Lake, perched at an altitude of 4,694 meters, is one of the world’s highest lakes, located near the 5,098-meter-high Rush Pari Peak. Situated in Nagar Valley, about 15 km from the Miar and Spantik (Golden) Peaks, this pristine lake is surrounded by stunning glaciers, including the Hopper and Miar Glaciers. The trek offers awe-inspiring views of nearby peaks such as Spantik, Phuparash, Malubiting, Ultar Sar, and even K2 on a clear day.

Itinerary

Rush Lake and Hunza Valley Trek

Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad

Hunza Adventure Tours team will welcome you at Islamabad International Airport and transfer you to a centrally located hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Islamabad to Chilas

Begin your journey on the Karakoram Highway with stops at Shatial rock carvings. Upon arrival in Chilas, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chilas to Karimabad, Hunza

Drive to Karimabad with stops at the meeting point of the three great mountain ranges and Rakaposhi Viewpoint for lunch. Check in at the hotel in Karimabad for the night.

Day 4: Karimabad to Hopper Valley

Visit the historic Baltit and Altit forts in the morning. Afterward, embark on a scenic jeep ride to Hopper Valley, enjoying views of Diran, Rakaposhi, and Spantik Peaks. Overnight stay in a local lodge.

Day 5: Hopper Valley to Barpo Giram

Start trekking across the Bualter Glacier and grassy trails along the Barpu Glacier. Camp overnight at Barpo Giram amidst stunning mountain views.

Day 6: Barpo Giram to Brikchour

Trek along the ablation valley of the Barpu Glacier, passing shepherd settlements and enjoying views of Ultar, Diran, and Spantik Peaks. Camp overnight at Brikchour.

Day 7: Brikchour to Rush Lake

Embark on a challenging ascent to Rush Lake (4,694m), with steep trails offering panoramic views of the Hispar Glacier and surrounding peaks. Camp overnight by the lake.

Day 8: Rush Peak Ascent

Begin an early morning ascent of Rush Peak (5,098m) for incredible views of the Karakoram, including K2 on clear days. Return to camp at Rush Lake for the night.

Day 9: Rush Lake to Gutons

Enjoy a relaxed morning for photography or nature walks before descending to Gutons via steep, dusty trails. Camp overnight in Gutons.

Day 10: Gutons to Hopper Valley, then to Gulmit

Trek back through the Hopper Valley, crossing the Bualter Glacier, and drive to Gulmit. Stop at Attabad Lake en route. Overnight stay in Gulmit.

Day 11: Visit Passu and Borith Lake

Explore the Hussaini suspension bridges, hike to a viewpoint overlooking the Passu Glacier, and visit the charming village of Passu. Return to Gulmit for the night.

Day 12: Khunjerab Pass Excursion

Take a full-day trip to Khunjerab Pass (4,733m), the highest point on the Karakoram Highway, and enjoy wildlife sightings, including ibex and Marco Polo sheep. Return to Gulmit for the night.

Day 13: Gulmit to Islamabad or Besham

Fly to Islamabad, weather permitting. If flights are unavailable, travel via the Karakoram Highway with a stop in Besham. Overnight stay in Besham or Islamabad.

Day 14: Return to Islamabad

Drive to Islamabad with a visit to the Taxila Museum en route. Explore Shah Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument, and Daman-e-Koh before enjoying a farewell dinner. Transfer to the airport for your departure.
