Broad Peak
Broad Peak Expedition is recognized as one of the top mountaineering challenges in the world. This ultimate adventure involves scaling the imposing Broad Peak, a journey that demands both mental and physical endurance, along with advanced climbing and mountaineering expertise. Previous experience on 6,800-meter peaks greatly benefits those aiming to reach the summit. Standing atop the world’s 12th highest mountain, Broad Peak, is an incredibly rewarding achievement.
Locally known as ‘Falchan Kangri,’ Broad Peak gets its name from the vast width and bulk of its summit. Located near K2, it dominates the Concordia landscape, positioned at the heart of the Karakoram Mountain range and towering over the Baltoro Glacier. For over 40 years, Chogori Expeditions has organized Broad Peak Expeditions, earning a reputation as one of the most experienced local companies in the region. Our expeditions typically last 60-65 days, providing full-board logistic support from the base camp and beyond. However, the expedition length may vary depending on climbers' experience, available time, and weather conditions.
The journey begins at Islamabad International Airport, where our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. The first day is dedicated to rest and recovery after your journey. In the afternoon, we will hold a briefing to provide additional details about the Broad Peak Expedition.
After spending the night in Islamabad, you'll embark on a scenic 45-minute flight to Skardu the next day, offering spectacular views of Nanga Parbat, K2, and other peaks of the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges. Upon landing, you'll drive approximately 40 minutes to your hotel in Skardu, where you'll have the rest of the day to prepare for the expedition.
Skardu, the capital of Baltistan, is the gateway to significant peaks such as K2, Deosai, Masherbrum, and the Gasherbrums. Climbers often make their final purchases and preparations here before continuing their journey. The following day, you'll travel by jeep along the Indus, Shigar, and Braldu rivers to reach Askoli, the last inhabited village, before entering the remote wilderness of the Karakoram. In Askoli, you will spend your first night camping under the stars.
The trekking phase of the expedition starts the next day, as you hike through Braldu Gorge to the Baltoro Glacier, eventually arriving at Concordia and the Broad Peak Base Camp. Your mountain guide, chef, and support team will remain at base camp throughout the climbing phase of your expedition. Once the summit is achieved, you will retrace your steps, following the same route back to Islamabad. After spending one final night in Islamabad, you’ll head to the airport for your return flight, marking the conclusion of your Broad Peak expedition.
We are confident that, with our four decades of experience, local expertise, and extensive contacts, we can manage your Broad Peak Expedition with professionalism and efficiency, ensuring a successful and rewarding journey.
